Info: Annual green manure plant with blue flower spikes, which provides an excellent food source for many insects. Very good soil improver with very high preceding crop value (nitrogen collector). Used as soil mulch or green fodder. Foliage and grains are also suitable for feeding.

Care: Sow 2 - 4 cm deep in rows with 20 - 30 cm spacing, cover with soil and keep well moist until germination. Thin out strong seedlings to 30 cm spacing. Transplants poorly (taproot). Likes sunny, even dry locations on medium-heavy, loamy, and light, sandy soils. Keep stand free of weeds. Cut during flowering. For mulching, lightly bury after multiple cuts in the autumn.

Tip: Not only very suitable as an insect pasture and nitrogen collector for organic gardening. As green manure, it promotes humus formation and revives, loosens, and aerates the soil. It replaces peat and complements mineral fertilization.

Sowing: March - mid-October outdoors

Germination: 10 - 14 days at 10 - 22°C

Harvest: May - November
