Info: Annual. A semi-double, non-climbing mix in various shades of red and yellow. The Whirlybird series stands out from other nasturtium mixes as its flowers bloom above the foliage. Growth height: approx. 30 cm.
Care: Nasturtium thrives in any humic, loose, sparse fertilization, otherwise the foliage takes over, and the flowers disappear underneath. Sow 2 - 3 seeds per planting site/pot. Sowing depth 2 - 3 cm.
Usage: The bushy plants unfold their lush effect on beds and borders with their cascading growth. Nostalgic appearance against walls, in rock gardens and containers, also on the balcony.
Gardener's tip: Leaves, flowers, and buds are edible and make for a tasty, spicy salad. Buds and newly fertilized seed capsules can be pickled in brine and used as a caper substitute.
Sowing: Pre-cultivation: April in pots; Direct sowing: Mid-May - End of July
Germination: 14 - 20 days at 18°C
Location: Sunny - Partially shaded
Flowering: From July – Frost
