How to Use Your 3/8" Threaded Cap

  2. Step 2: Apply a suitable sealant (e.g., Teflon tape or hemp) to the pipe thread – see Figure 2.
  3. Step 3: Screw the malleable iron cap onto the pipe thread by hand until snug – see Figure 3.
  4. Step 4: Carefully tighten the cap with a suitable wrench until a tight connection is achieved – see Figure 4.
  5. Step 5: Check the tightness of the connection by testing for leaks – see Figure 5.
