How to Use (Step-by-Step)
- Step 1: Gather Your Tools: You'll need pipe wrenches, thread sealant tape (Teflon tape), and possibly pipe joint compound. See Figure 1.
- Step 2: Prepare the Threads: Clean the male threads of the pipes you'll be connecting to the ball valve. Remove any old sealant or debris.
- Step 3: Apply Sealant: Wrap Teflon tape clockwise around the male threads of the pipes. Apply 2-3 layers, overlapping slightly. You can also apply a thin layer of pipe joint compound over the Teflon tape for extra sealing. See Figure 2.
- Step 4: Connect the Valve: Carefully thread the ball valve onto the prepared pipe threads. Tighten with pipe wrenches, being careful not to overtighten, which can damage the threads or the valve body. See Figure 3.
- Step 5: Test for Leaks: Turn on the water supply slowly and check for leaks at the connections. If you see any leaks, tighten the connections slightly. If the leaks persist, disassemble the connections, reapply sealant, and reassemble.
- Step 6: Operate the Valve: The steel lever handle allows you to easily control the flow. Turn the handle 90 degrees to open or close the valve completely.
