Ferramol slug pellets are very attractive to all plant-damaging slugs. Ingesting the bait reliably stops the slugs from feeding, thus protecting the crops. The active ingredient is converted into the plant nutrients iron and phosphate in the soil. Unlike other active ingredients, no repulsive mucous secretions are found on the beds.

After eating the bait, the slugs retreat to their hiding places and die. For this reason, dead slugs are only found in exceptional cases in the beds. The success of Ferramol treatment can therefore be measured solely by the reduction in damage caused by feeding.
