The model kit of the Alert is shown after her refit with twelve six-pounder cannons and a full complement of twelve half-pounder swivel guns.

  • Double planking of basswood and a second planking of pearwood battens
  • Laser-engraved maple veneer deck with detailed reproduction of planks and nails
  • Sailcloth for all sails
  • Resin anchors
  • Acrylic stand for the finished model

Built in Dover by Henry Ladd and launched on 24 June 1777, the Alert was the largest cutter class in the Royal Navy. Originally, the Alert had ten four-pounder carriage guns and six to twelve half-pounder swivel guns. She was one of fifteen cutters built for the Royal Navy between 1777 and 1778.

The model kit has been designed to be as accurate in both scale and detail as possible for a kit. To this end, all hull and deck fittings were custom-made, with no off-the-shelf fittings used.
