Board game Living Forest - Kennerspiel des Jahres 2022

A mystical forest, a source of peace and tranquility, is threatened by the devastating flames of the Onibi. In Living Forest, players assume the roles of the nature spirits Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter and strive to protect the forest by extinguishing the flames, planting trees, or awakening the forest's guardian. Who will succeed in putting Onibi to flight?

In each round, the players—each individually—reveal cards from their decks depicting different forest animals. These helpful forest creatures bring with them various elements. However, among the animals are some loners, and not too many of them should be revealed at once.

Using the elements, players can perform one or two actions, planting trees, extinguishing flames, moving around the stone circle to activate various bonuses, attracting new animals, or receiving magic fragments. At the end of each round, all players must equally face the remaining flames in the stone circle. If they can't fend them off, they must add fire monitors to their deck – grumpy, solitary animals that don't contribute any elements. They can only be gotten rid of them with magic fragments! The game ends as soon as one player manages to fulfill one of the three possible victory conditions. Living Forest is an upscale family game or a light connoisseur game with a push-your-luck mechanism and beautiful illustrations. Although all players are working toward a common goal, only one person can win in the end.
