To mark the 175th anniversary of the railway in Switzerland, ROCO is presenting a special edition of the Re 10/10 locomotive train in its anniversary edition. The locomotives, painted in SBB green, were decorated with decorative stripes and crests.
For the sake of simplicity, the double traction consisting of Re 4/4ˡˡ and Re 6/6 is referred to as Re 10/10. This name derives from the ten powered axles the pair possesses, and therefore does not refer to a specific locomotive type. The Re 10/10 are used by SBB almost exclusively to pull heavy freight trains on the Gotthard route. This powerful pair can handle the prescribed maximum load of 1,400 tons on the drawbar at 80 kilometers per hour on a gradient of 26 per thousand.
