Do you know this?
You glue something together and let it dry overnight. The next day, you want to check if the part is holding together again, you touch it – and it falls apart as if you had used water instead of glue. But you certainly didn't – and the adhesive is usually not to blame.
With the HG Primer adhesion promoter, you can also successfully bond difficult-to-bond plastics. Whether for hobby use, at home, or in your garage. As the industry produces these materials more and more frequently, you too will encounter them sooner or later—that's as certain as the amen in church. With this adhesion promoter, you're perfectly prepared for this moment. Plastics that are difficult to bond without primer include those containing PE, PP, EDPM, etc. How do you test whether or not you need a primer? A simple trick lets you determine whether the plastic needs to be pretreated with HG Primer: Sprinkle a small amount of granules onto the material to be bonded and apply a drop of adhesive. (Let it cool for 5 minutes.) If the hardened mass can be moved or loosened with your finger without much effort, the adhesive is unable to bond to the base material, and you need a primer. However, if the hardened mass adheres or can only be removed with great force, the actual bonding process can be carried out without the primer.
CAUTION: After using the HG Primer, curing takes longer. The optimal final strength is only achieved after 24 hours.
Application:
- Using the HG Primer: To ensure the primer can penetrate properly, the surface to be bonded should be roughened. Then, a thin layer of the adhesion promoter is applied to the affected area. The surface structure changes immediately.
- Bonding: Allow the material treated with the primer to flash off for about 5 minutes. After that, the actual bonding process can begin. Please note that the actual final strength is only achieved after 24 hours of applying the primer. Depending on the material, the final strength can vary greatly.
